Not really. Moderates are rare in politics. They usually don't
survive the primary process. No wonder people were confused.

There is not much hope for California. As one of their elected
officials said, the people in California want and expect a lot of
services from the government, but they don't want to pay for them. A
recipe for discontent, to be sure. Even in this recall fiasco with
the budget deficit the number one issue, people were campaigning on
cutting taxes and increasing services. Iceberg off the starboard bow,
increase speed.....

I'm beginning to think that it is mandatory for American politicians to be
incapable of normal speech. They seem to be unable to put a sentence
together that contains more than four words that might be found in a
dictionary!

Seems to me you're right. This is justice for all the fools who
voted for that jerk. He is a big nothing. Also, I wouldn't get
too high on the fact that he's a Republican. His wife and her
clan are Kennedy trash from way back.. Demos through and
through.
