(2002) 7150 per 100,000 Again, this should be obvious- Under apartheid, people disappeared, were kidnapped and tortured, and were burned alive in the streets by angry mobs. In America, if you break the law, you go to jail. Yes, there is a disparity in the numbers of black folks going to jail. I'm not going to start a discussion on the underlying social, economic, and cultural reasons for this.
