Near Atlanta? Double blech. Sorry. Ever been to P'tree City? Really nice place. Mill Valley, CA? Hehehe. Of all the places in California I find appealing, Mill Valley ain't one of them. NOWHERE in the Bay Area is livable. Again, this list wasn't compiled to cater to a certain demographic such as boaters or fishers. I see you have never been to Mill Valley. I sure as hell have! While going to school, I worked part time for an architect that lived in Mill Valley, spent a lot of time there. Too many people with there collective noses stuck in the air, trying to act better than everyone else, all the while in horrible debt trying to keep up with the Joneses. I did not know Mill Valley was in Georgia or Pennsylvania. And Mill Valley is old money. Idiot, when and where did I say that Mill Valley was in Pa or Ga?????? Your senility is showing again! I lived in the Bay Area for almost 2 totally miserable years. Yuck. People swarming like damned killer bees, horrible traffic, dry as hell, too many people with their collective noses in the air, and that air is horribly polluted, have to be careful where you drive, you might get car-jacked or killed for whatever pittance is in your wallet, and the list goes on. Been going to Richmond lately to participate in the killings that happen therer almost daily? Another fun thing, take BART to a Raiders game, instead of getting off the train and walking to the stadium, take a left....nice place, huh? The only good thing that came out of the Bay Area, other than my wife and in-laws (some of them, anyway) is Casper's hot dogs. Well, there are some good eats in S.F. proper, and a place in Lafayette that has a hell of a brunch. |

I'm not saying anything about Naples, it's just that when one uses the word "best" it inherently shows bias, be it the "best" baseball player of all time, or the "best" place to live. Particularly when somebody tries to quantify the subjective. Particularly when the "King of the NG idiots" tries to use it as some sort of trump card. How do they cope with living with an unmitigated asshole like you? Was the divorce due to your use of drugs and alcohol, as you imply for others? -- John H. On the 'PocoLoco' out of Deale, MD |

Actually I like to stay at the Beresford Arms Hotel when I stay in the city.
Is 2 blocks from Union Sq. Unfortunately my favorite restaurants are a distance away. Buco Giovanni is number 1 and for a special treat the Friday Buffet at the California Culinary Academy. Bill "HarryKrause" wrote in message ... Don White wrote: The one time I was in San Francisco, we drove in during the morning rush hour from our motel in Redwood City. If you ever decide to go back, try staying at the Handlery Union Square in downtown San Francisco. It is a great, small, and relatively inexpensive hotel, more like a small European hotel, actually, that has on-site "park it yourself" parking right out its back door. The hotel is right off Union Square, if that means anything to you. It's my preferred hotel when I am lucky enough to get to S.F., no matter who is picking up the tab. Walking distance to many first-rate rastaurants, too, and right on a cable car line. Oh...and croissants and fresh coffee in the AM, at no extra charge. Right outside your room. http://www.handlery.com/sf/home.html -- Let's pray the United States survives the rest of Bush's term. |

Bill You ever eat at the Dead Fish overlooking the Sacramento River? Food's pretty good, the view is spectacular. -- Let's pray the United States survives the rest of Bush's term. What town? Riverview in Isleton sounds more like your description. Actually, we like Al the Wop's and the Chinese resturants in Locke when we are boating the Sac. Locke is a very interesting town. Do a google on it. |
