I was just wondering if the numbers on a typical prop give you everything
you need in order to replace it?

Or, are there actual measurements that need to be taken?

For example:
a prop with the following code on it:

48 77346 A40 19P

My guess is that 19P may be the pitch?
But what about the rest?

19 is most likely the pitch. A simple tape measure will give you the
diameter for an accurate replacement.

If you just want a cheap aluminum prop that will give you about 80%
efficiency at best then check michigan wheel. http://www.michiganwheel.com/
You can usually find something at www.ebay.com also.
Depending on your boat and how you use it you might consider a performance
SS prop if you need more top end speed and/or acceleration out of the hole.
Cost more but you get what you pay for.
