Default One heck of a storm on the Bay...

...today.

Huge waves (for the Bay), breaking near shore, at least five footers, 25
to 35 knot winds, very high tides, and a number of streets in the
Chesapeake Beach area are flooding over. Lots of broken tree branches on
the roads. A real nor'easter.

Herring's probably out in it, trolling for that big striper.

Is it heading toward Montauk? A friend's there for a few days, unwinding. I
was hoping she'd get sample of everything Montauk has to offer, including
"Jeezus ****ing christ - there goes the beach chair!"

This storm is coming from the NE to us. Montauk is NE of us. I guess we
could bounce it back...

OK....she said it was just overcast. I guess it missed the point.

He probably would have been if a seventh grade teacher hadn't begged me to take
her class so she could go watch her son graduate from college this weekend. What
a PITA *that* was!

Here's the current report:

CHESAPEAKE BAY FROM POOLES ISLAND TO SANDY POINT-
CHESAPEAKE BAY FROM SANDY POINT TO NORTH BEACH-
CHESAPEAKE BAY FROM NORTH BEACH TO DRUM POINT-
616 PM EDT FRI MAY 20 2005

SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL SATURDAY AFTERNOON

TONIGHT
N WINDS 20 TO 25 KT...DECREASING TO 15 TO 20 KT AFTER
MIDNIGHT. WAVES 4 FT. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS THIS EVENING.

I understand it was worse than that during the day today with waves over 5 feet.
Wet trolling is OK. Cold trolling is OK. Wet *and* cold trolling sucks!

I'm going out Tue or Wed (whichever day has the better weather) to troll up to
Annapolis, anchor out by the #2 buoy, and drop some alewive chunks overboard
while watching the Blue Angels do their thing for the Navy Academy graduation.

Should be a good time. Lots of Tidalfish folks are talking about going up there.
Will the 'Yo Ho' be in attendance?

On the 'PocoLoco' out of Deale, MD,
on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay!
