A buddy has a 150 HP in line 6 cyl diesel
with 'CHRYSLER MARINE' on the valve cover. We are trying to locate the tach sender. The tack signal doesn't seem to come from the alenator, and after searching all afternoon, I couldn't find any transducers on the bell housing or the main pulley. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Mike |

Wow mike,
I don't know. most usualy places for a tach lead is fromt he pump electric sensing, or mechanical (Would look like a speedometer cable screwed onto the end of the injector pump), the "W" (stator output) terminal on the alternator or some type of a crank positioning sensor either on the flywheel, harmonic Balancer (front of crank) or camshaft housing. This is most unusual. Tim |

Tim,
I haven't found it at any of those places. We are looking for an old manual on the internet. Mayby that will help. Mike, this is a really stupid question, but when you say you're trying
to find the tach lead, are you trying to install a tach where one wasn't before? or trying to repair the tach thats already on the boat? if this is a new engine, it probably doesn't have one, and must be supplied by the tach mfj. Tim |

Tim,
Not stupid at all. The boat has two engines, the port side tach is working fine. I can't find the sender on that one either. By buddy says that both were working ok, then the starboard started working intermittently.
