But Ellen and Amelia have made really outstanding accomplishments in fields occupied by self-driven obsessives (assholes), so I think they'd probably stand above most in that ranking. I don't know about Amelia Earhart, but Ellen is at least polite and well-spoken (and very very focussed) Good - that's a plus then. |
Agreed. A polite way of saying she's an a**h***?

I'd agree that some people manage to be focussed, self-directed, and intensely competitive without quite being full-fledged a**h***s, but most of the times such priorities as curtesy, social ritual, attention to the wants & needs of others, etc etc fade away... and guess what you have left... Of course, this kind of person is also a super-achiever... as Ellen M certainly is. This is the kind of person you want to have if the goal is getting things done. I think this is the origin of the term "Type-A personality." The problem is that a lot of people have all the negative characteristics and few of the positive, and are not even plus-scale achievers. Short Wave Sportfishing wrote: Exactly. My wife has girlfriends. So do my daughters. And my boys. Yeah, whatever. Actually, from what I've read and seen of Ellen MacArthur she is totally and completely focused on sailing. She is so intensely competitive that IMHO she'd be a very uncomfortable person to have a relationship with... although I would like to sail with her as a learning experience. Most of these solo types are very focused and competitive. From what I've read, Amelia Earhart was much the same way. Agreed. A polite way of saying she's an asshole? Why would you consider someone who drives themselves hard to be an asshole? That's a behavior that should be emulated, not denigrated. But Ellen and Amelia have made really outstanding accomplishments in fields occupied by self-driven obsessives (assholes), so I think they'd probably stand above most in that ranking. She deserves the record. Those who work hard, get the rewards. Dave |

you are a liar here is proof ""'''''''''''''''I've never called Tuuu,,,,k's ISP. Further, the standard way to file a complaint about "spoofing" is to submit one of the offending posts with complete headers. Anyone who looks at the headers of Tuuu,,,,k's posts will see the address of his news posting server and the name of his ISP. Both are different from mine. Tuuu,,,,k does spoof my online name ID. And, further, there would be no reason for me to convince an ISP that many of Tuuu,,,,k's posts *were* threatening towards me. His posts speak for themselves.''''''''' Yet for the last two weeks you have called several times, accused me of "threatening posts" and they performed an investigation and well krause,,, I hate to tell you,, but had I made a threatening post,,, I wouldn't be with the same IP right now,,, no??? And they told me you had serious concerns about my changing my newsgroup name,,lol,,, I guess it bothered you that much,,, lol,,, krause,,, we call that a snake,,, one who slithers around people's back,, and snakes,, But add snake to unethical add snake to one who lacks integrity add snake to liar "hkrause" wrote in message news:1107871639.dfa5936dd9972276e9c94620fba39261@t eranews...
