Ellen MacArthur, already the youngest person and the fastest woman to
sail around the world alone, has become the fastest sailor to complete a
solo non-stop circumnavigation of the globe.

When Francis Joyon took 72 days, 22 hours, 54 minutes and 22 seconds to
sail around the world last year, he was the first to do it in a trimaran.

It was generally expected his record would stand for at least 10 years.

Now the 28-year-old MacArthur from the landlocked English county of
Derbyshire has re-written the record books with her mark of 71 days, 14
hours, 18 minutes and 35 seconds.

Damn good job then.

Three huzzahs for the lady.

I bet she still takes forever to put on her makeup. :-)

I'll bet she doesn't wear any.

And has a girlfriend named Petra.

From Sweden.

And....

Um....never mind...

Tom

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

C'mon Tom, don't be like Dennis Conner, calling the women sailors
"dykes" just because they beat him.

That is excellent news. I hope she inspires more women to go for the
top tier in world sailing.

My goodness, with that and the Vendee Globe and keels falling
off...it's been a busy week for British sailing.

Congratulations to her & the team that built the boat:-)

K

& the Krause lie of the day is ????

So I hate to dwell on the Hatt 43 (well OK I don't really "hate" it:-))
but in a hurry & this only takes a second, the arguments over the Hatt
went on for ages, fake photo being posted the "sudden" disposal when a
couple of NG people were about to expose him, then eventually just to
absolutely confirm it was nothing but a liar's BS like all his other
"boating" claims his only answer was he "chose" not to post a real pic.
The lowest of the low liars is our own Krause;-)

The photo was genuine. I certainly can "provide" a photo of what you
refer to as "get home." But, as I responded previously, I choose not
to do so.

I didn't say anything about dykes. Nothing at all. Or lesbians.

For all I know Petra could be very happily married to a guy named
Gunner or Thor. :)

It's all in the mind's eye don't cha know. :)

Do Swedish carpenters look like tall, willowy, blond babes?

The boat that had the bulb fall off - what that the old Australia II?

And it often looks so much better there than in the real world.

Actually, from what I've read and seen of Ellen MacArthur she is totally
and completely focused on sailing. She is so intensely competitive that
IMHO she'd be a very uncomfortable person to have a relationship with...
although I would like to sail with her as a learning experience.

Wow. Times have really changed. When I did my solo circ in the late
'60s, it took me 92 days. And that was considered fast. Kudos to
Ellen.
