He could buy either of the two hydrofoils I have in the garage for ten
bucks, plus shipping. Both were taken off so I could mount Smart Tabs... Tabs work. Talk about adding drag...hydrofoil versus Smart Tabs????...no comparison....I've owned 4 foils and have NONE mounted now...... -- RichG manager, Carolina Skiff Owners Group on MSN http://groups.msn.com/CarolinaSkiffOwners .. "Tony Thomas" wrote in message news:3wEBd.56952$k25.23086@attbi_s53... I think I would try the foil first and see if it does not do what Rich is looking for before spending $189.99 on the smart tabs. Problem w/ smart tabs is they create a certain amount of drag and bow down all the time. Speed will overcome it but there is always that push no matter what the trim angle of the motor is. The foil is adjusted by way of the trim angle of the drive. Tony "IBNFSHN" wrote in message news:LEDBd.4712$Tf5.769@lakeread03... Do yourself a big favor and take it back and get your money back. Invest in a set of smart tabs. Yes they are considerably more but you won't regret it. Go to iboats and do a search on them and see for yourself And the raves about them.http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi -- Bill Chesapeake, Va "Rich" wrote in message ... Just picked up a hydrofoil for the boat. Directions say to mount it as far to the rear as possible on the cavitation plate. That would put it right over, and mostly behind the prop. Does anyone have one of these mounted on an alpha 1 drive? Any tips? Does anyone see a problem with mounting it that far back? Thanks, Rich |
