But it warned that when combined with suspicious behavior — such as apparent surveillance — a person with an almanac "may point to possible terrorist planning."... This is Grade A Choice stuff ... vintage hobnail boots and black leather overcoats. Lets see, the guy was seen standing looking for an extended period at an important government building. He was carrying a map, marked with the locations of nearby subway stations. He also carried an almanac that listed the times and dates of events at that building. That sure sounds like a spread eagled in the gutter at the barrel of a submaching gun offense to you guys doesn't it? That should give a federal Barney Fife the thrill of his career. How about the guy was just one of ten thousand tourists in DC who managed to figure out the Metro system and was checking out the times the Smithsonian was open? You guys are the scary ones here ... this idea should have died of laughter in the bar or bombshelter where it originated. Rick |

Actually the World Almanac has nice maps, specifications on lots of
locations. Very compact guide to America. Bill "Rick" wrote in message link.net... Calif Bill wrote: What fantasy? In WW-II spies put ashore by a sub off the east coast were caught carrying almanacs. Beware strangers with shoes. Rick Well. no wonder Generalissimo Ashcroft is suspicious of those carrying an almanac. Not to worry about Cpl. Bush, though...the book is too think and the print too small for him, and there aren't enough cartoons. -- Email sent to is never read. |
