"riverman" Message-ID: hat's pretty cool, especially considering that Drake had no children.... maybe the lineage isn't quite as direct right back there at the beginning? :-) At least the water part runs in both your veins. I visit Tavistock pretty regularly in the summer when I'm at summer school in Plymouth; Sir Francis is a legend around those parts. OK, semi directly, since the only trackable lineage is through his brother Thomas. ever wonder what happened to the other 9 children in his family. The other 9 children in who's family: Drakes brothers and sisters? I bet their descendants are still living all over Devonshire and the Plymouth region. Once, on a whim, I did an 'ego search' on my and my great-grandfather's name (they're the same), and came across an incredibly thorough family tree back to Robert Barlett who came over on the "Anne", the ship that followed the Mayflower. He married a woman who came across on the Mayflower, and their family tree is traceable all the way back to Wm the Conquerer. I once calculated, at 2.5 kids per couple and at 25 years per generation, that I was related to most of the known world. --riverman |
