Default Proposed: "Preamble to FAQ- rec.boats"

WHEREAS rec.boats is one of the oldest groups on Usenet, and
WHEREAS the original FAQ was written before the emergence of
Off-topic posting, and
WHEREAS any original governing Charter has been lost to the ages,
THEREFORE the following Preamble to the FAQ is proposed:

PROPOSED PREAMBLE TO REC.BOATS FAQ

Article 1: Anyone may post Off-topic material (i.e.- not pertaining
to boating) in rec.boats without recrimination or
censure.

Article 2: No one may post comments complaining about Off-topic
posting. Violators may be insulted ,bullied, and/or
harassed.

Article 3: Off-topic posters may, without reason, logic, or explanation
advise anyone: "If you don't like it, don't read it."
This statement shall in all cases be accepted as a
substitute for rational explanation or discussion.

Article 4: Those critical of Off-topic posting, may NEVER use
the "If you don't like it, don't read it." jingoism.
Said statement may only be used to defend the indefensible.

Article 5: Off-topic posters are absolved of any responsibility for the
absurdity, irrationality, totally Off-topic, or
offensive nature of their posts. Naturally.

Article 6: Any On-topic poster (i.e.- pertaining to boating) guilty
of any error, miscalculation, mistake, or
misinformation, no matter how innocent or insignificant,
shall forever be held to public ridicule, and told to
sell his/her boat(s), and to burn their computer.

Article 7: Off-topic posters may, without hindrance, use as many nicknames,
email addresses, or news providers as necessary to bolster
any failing or faulty argument, or to achieve the illusion of
support or consensus on any issue. It is hoped that they will
do a better job of concealing their identity in the future.

Article 8: On-topic posters must publish their name, address, and home
telephone number in each posted article. Failing to do so
will be a very bad thing.

Article 9: Any semblance of Usenet Protocol is hereafter declared as
"null and void" in rec.boats. Anyone criticising this
incredibly self-serving policy shall be reported to their
ISP as being "in breach" of said nonexistent Usenet Protocol.

Article 10: Those posters having no idea whatsoever concerning Usenet
Etiquette or Prorocol, or those having no regard for same,
shall immediately attain the status of "reg", with all due
respect, status, honors, and priviledge.

Article 12: These Articles are founded upon true Hedonistic Principles
and, as such, shall be considered inviolate. Any
action not forbidden above shall be legitimised simply
by the desire to perform, or the expediency of, such action.
In the vernacular, "If it feels good, do it."

Article 13: On-topic posts, meeting the aforementioned standards, may still
be ignored in favor of Off-topic posts. There shall be no
expectation of response or acknowledgement from the Off-topic
posters. See Article 12.

Article 14: The group name "rec.boats" shall not imply any expectation,
guaranty, warranty, or assurance that the group content
concerns "boating", "boats", or any floatable object.

Article 15: Any attempt at self-control, consideration for others, or common
sense by Off-topic posters shall be construed as a Material
Breach of this covenant, and such action will be dealt
with under the provisions of Article 9 herein.
