Actually he was a Yamaha mechanic, and came highly recommended/respected by others in town. I have been very happy with the engine so far, I was just curious to know if others, who maybe had much heavier boats had experienced any problems. Although, I think that I may be burning a bit more oil than when new. It is in the shop for its next service interval, and I'll be chatting tomorrow with them about checking on this. run in is critical, i really cant stress this point enough. i have seen more problems caused by incorrect break in then any other reason. thanks to downloadable engine monitoring data this is easier to point at as the problem. if your boat is propped correctly and you never overload it, ie; unable to achieve max rpm, you should never have to row. plug fouling has been a problem with previous yamaha models. hotter plugs and coil changes fixed this issue. it was only a problem with motors that were trolled, idled extensively. |
