Thanks for the advice, got a call into boat country for a part. Both helm
seems too stiff havn't owned a command bridge and I'm told they are stiffer than a single helm. All the other ones I'm used to (single helm) move easily. David "Jim" wrote in message ink.net... I had the exact same thing happen to me. There's no other way, replace the cable. Be careful when you stick the end in the outdrive (Volvo 280?) there's a rubber boot that you can damage. I did. Then you get to replace that, too. Splice threads? New one on me. cables aren't all that expensive. Just replace it. Think the shift shoe tensioning bolt is shimmed wrong because its too stiff. Maybe the cable is what's too stitf? Just bought the boat and the outdrive was recently rebuilt. If there isn't a kit I'll bet I can come up with something. Like getting a new cable? :-) Capt. Bill |
