A woman shot and killed by police during the storming of the US Capitol
by a pro-Donald Trump mob has been named as a 14-year veteran of the US

Ashli Babbitt, 35, had travelled to Washington DC from San Diego, her
husband told the local news station KUSI, adding that she was a
passionate Trump supporter.

Three other people died from “medical emergencies” during Wednesday’s
siege of the Capitol, according to the Washington DC police chief,
Robert Contee.

Contee has confirmed to reporters a woman was shot by Capitol police – a
federal law enforcement agency responsible for protecting the US
Congress – but has not released further details.

Less than a day before she joined the Trump loyalist protest, Babbitt,
an avowed and public Trump supporter as well as a subscriber to a number
of alt-right conspiracy theories, had vowed the insurrectionist movement
could never be halted. “Nothing will stop us … they can try and try and
try but the storm is here and it is descending upon DC in less than 24
hours … dark to light!” she wrote on Twitter.

***Babbitt, 35, was reportedly shot as she and other rioters tried to
break through a barricaded door in the building where Capitol police
officers were armed on the other side.***

On video footage circulating on social media, a single gunshot is heard
during an attempt to storm the barricaded door. Other footage shows
police attempting to perform emergency first aid on a woman lying on the
floor bleeding.

Babbitt was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound but later pronounced
dead.

On Twitter, Babbitt described herself as a veteran and a *libertarian.*
Her social media account is filled with declarations of support for
Trump and condemnation of November’s presidential election, which Trump
lost.

She also retailed many of the conspiracy theories shared by alt-right
groups, including one about a vast network of high-profile and powerful
paedophiles. Babbitt regularly retweeted controversial lawyer and
conspiracy theorist Lin Wood, a high-profile Trump supporter who has
litigated several of the president’s failed lawsuits contesting the
election result.

The guard was hired to protect government property and members of
congress. He was issued a firearm to enforce that. No threat to his
own life was required to justify deadly force. It's a similar
situation to an armed guard anywhere.

News reports stated the woman was part of a crowd using stanchions and
flag pole holders to bust through glass doors and windows to gain
entrance to other parts of the Capitol. She got shot in the act of doing
that. She wasn't on a street corner selling loose cigarettes.

She also was not threatening the officer, she was breaking a window.
Can they shoot people who break windows to get into stores? OK by me
but I bet you don't agree.
In fact one of the BLM thugs shot a retired cop ( David Dorn) trying
to protect a store. I don't think they ever caught the shooter.

How would you know what she was doing? Also, had she remained outside on

The left keeps bringing it up. There were 6 people on NBC tonight
bringing that analogy and saying they treated the portland protestors
worse but I don't remember them shooting any protestors and those
protestors were throwing mortar shells and molotov cocktails at the
cops. There was not a single fire in the capitol and the vandalism was
pretty minor compared to ANY BLM protest.

How many Secret Service shootings have there been since 1950? (the
last time I remember the SS shooting anyone).
Since that time two president were shot, one was killed, Another was
shot at from the crowd and there have been many attempts on their
lives. The guy who broke into the White House and was running around
was just tackled and arrested.
I am having a hard time thinking of anyone being shot at a secure
government facility in spite of at least one guy shooting up the CIA
and a half dozen other active shooters at military bases.
Try again

Less than a day before she joined the Trump loyalist protest, Babbitt,
an avowed and public Trump supporter as well as a subscriber to a number
of alt-right conspiracy theories, had vowed the insurrectionist movement
could never be halted. Nothing will stop us they can try and try and
try but the storm is here and it is descending upon DC in less than 24
hours dark to light! she wrote on Twitter.

Her social media account is filled with declarations of support for
Trump and condemnation of Novembers presidential election, which Trump
lost.

She also retailed many of the conspiracy theories shared by alt-right
groups, including one about a vast network of high-profile and powerful
paedophiles. Babbitt regularly retweeted controversial lawyer and
conspiracy theorist Lin Wood, a high-profile Trump supporter who has
litigated several of the presidents failed lawsuits contesting the
election result.

She was a *libertarian* and Trump supporter. What a combination.

The only thing missing is that "imminent threat to the officer's
life".

The guard was hired to protect government property and members of
congress. He was issued a firearm to enforce that. No threat to his
own life was required to justify deadly force. It's a similar
situation to an armed guard anywhere.

So those who attacked the Federal Courthouse in Portland should have been shot?

Bull****.

Why do you keep bringing up Portland? Are you making excuses for
Trump and his mob of insurrectionists?

Why shouldn't I bring up Portland or Minneapolis? It shows the 'apples and
oranges' way you, Harry, and the media are treating the DC protest compared to
how the same crowd treated the 'peaceful protests' this summer.

Gosh, I didn't see one business in flame, or any burning cars, or any bricks,
rocks, or molotov cocktails thrown at cops. Yet, when those activities occur
night after night, it's a 'peaceful protest' because black lives matter.

And, the vast majority of the protestors walked off the 'battlefield' with no
problems whatsoever.
