It was brand new when it was issued to the relative, and seems to be in near-perfect shape. It didn't visit the range yesterday, but I did get to handle it and look it over. Beautiful rifle. I had them everywhere I was in the Coast Guard. It is a nice piece of hardware but I prefer V2.0 The M14/M1A. There are a number of improvements over Mr Garand's original effort. —- I have had them both and have enjoyed them both. Btw the M1 was a National Match. I should have kept it. The M1A was great but prone, the box got in my way. Eh, I should have kept it too. I have a 10 round magazine for mine that is really pretty short if that was what I wanted to do and another one that is only 4 in case I wanted to go deer hunting. I am not sure where they are tho. Probably in the big file cabinet I have with other gun stuff and ammo. My ready service lock box has 20 and 30 round mags in it. One is full of tracers. |
