Buddy and I hit the 100-yard outdoor range we frequent yesterday
afternoon. Weather was pretty nice. Many parts of the range grounds were
pretty muddy and as we both were wearing decent sneaks, we kept to the
dryer parts. It was CZ day for me, with my pistol and carbine, both in 9
mm. I was using Sellier & Bellot ball ammo, 124 grain, the range ammo I
like because it is non-ferrous, brass-cased, inexpensive, reliable, and
clean. Czech ammo for Czech firearms!

Buddy, whose retirement gig is being a gunsmith, helped me sight-in the
red dots on the firearms. I have a new red dot for the rifle and just
recently properly attached a red dot to the pistol. He's very good at
this sighting in; I am not. I set out paper targets at 50 yards for the
carbine and about 12 yards for the pistol.

After a few warm up shots, I was getting 1" to 2" groups with the
pistol. I couldn't believe it. My buddy was, basically, getting multiple
hits in the same hole at that 12 yard distance. He's a really good shot.
With the CZ carbine at 50 yards, I was also shooting 1" to 2" groups.
Probably could do better if I used a bipod. The red dot is zeroed for
that distance now. If I shoot it at 100 yards, I can just point the red
dot a hair or two higher.

Burned through 270 rounds.

Buddy has an almost brand new M1 of Korean War vintage he recently
inherited from a family member whose dad sneaked it back from that war.
It was brand new when it was issued to the relative, and seems to be in
near-perfect shape. It didn't visit the range yesterday, but I did get
to handle it and look it over. Beautiful rifle.
