That is exactly the point of the piece. As long as the people are too dumb to know that is not possible and the politicians are afraid to tell them, we are doomed. We have 2 or 3 generations of snowflakes who think there really is a free lunch and they have lived their whole lives with nothing bad ever happening to them. As the last of the depression/WWII people die off, there is not even anyone to tell them. Bad **** CAN happen and it is very likely it will, probably before I die and certainly in my kid's life times. The bubble that will bring us down is debt because you can't borrow your way out of that one and that seems to be the only tool in the bag other than austerity, not seen since the 30s. Prior to the depression, our money was backed by gold and silver. Now it is just backed by thoughts and prayers. |

The original constitution was ratified by the vote of 2/3ds of the state legislatures. If that was still going to be the rule, those big blue states would really have a problem. You only have to look at the red/blue map to see where the trouble lies. When Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota and Idaho have the same number of votes as Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and California, expect a lot of things not to go their way. |

The few dollars a pay period most actual working Americans might see from the tax cut will be devoured by Trump's trade war if it comes to pass with the PRC. Midwestern farmers are already paying a penalty because Mexico is shopping other than in the USA to buy its corn and other commodities, and there are serious shortages of Mexican farm workers willing to risk crossing the border to do stoop labor in California's crop fields. Food prices are going to go up, up, up as more farms fail. A problem with corn, is it is a food crop. But the Fed’s want it as an energy crop. So little energy gain overall, does not overcome the extra cost to sell it as food, especially in Mexico. Easy cure for the lack of migrant workers. Bring back a modified Bracero program. Would also stop most illegal immigration. I'd wager that the "energy gain" is actually a environmental debt. |
