Restructuring over slump in gun sales which they may not pull out of. Won’t be the first time a large firearm company slid into the abyss... |

I have a Remington Jam-o-matic. The 7600 in 30.06. Was famous for jamming. Is a safe queen for years. When new, the casing jammed and ripped the bolt face out. Warranty repair. Later case jam and ripped a slot in the head with the ejector. Was raining during the pig hunt. Warranty station said was rust that caused jam. I told them bull****, as I left the casing in the rifle and was not rusty before. Wanted a replacement and Remington refused. So why would I buy another Remington arms? Bad service ****es off customers. |

This is really pretty much the fault of colossal mismanagement by the guy who almost ran Home Depot into the ground although they are still smarting from the M-700 debacle. They planned on Hillary winning and the subsequent panic buy of guns. They did not have a plan of how to get along without it is also part of the problem. Gun manufacturers are looking at a saturated market so they better diversify or consolidate. We might see Remington being swallowed up by Ruger or AOB/S&W. |

My ex has an 1100 from the days when that was the gold standard for SA shotguns. She has shot thousand of rounds out of it and I never saw a malfunction. In the skeet league we were shooting 3 or 4 boxes a night once a week for 20 weeks a year. That was just league night, not other times we were there. |

They are a large producer of ammunition so I bet they will spin that off if they wind down. I have a pallet of their shotgun shells in my warehouse. Cabelas had a deal at $4.99 per box with free shipping so I bought 540 boxes. I got an email that my order was delayed and then a phone call a few days later from a nervous guy who said he had to ship by truck. No problem, my employer has forklifts. |

But the model 30.06 I bought was famous as a piece of ****. I think it was when they were going through a change of ownership and just blew off any problems. |

In DC I used to go to the distributor and buy shotgun shells by the pallet. We took 2 trucks to haul them away. (a load for the Virginia club and one for the maryland club. That was the olden days when there were 20 boxes in a case. The last time I saw a case it was 10 boxes. We were getting AAs for around $2 a box tho so it was worth doing. I bet my ex still has case sitting around. I took a couple and left her a couple. |
