$.26 to .29 a round is a good price for Wolf Gold. I shoot a lot of it.
Be mindful of the shipping charges, if any. Some suppliers scalp you on
shipping. I've never had a misfeed or a FTF with the Wolf Gold in my
Mini-14.

There's no point in paying for brass cases unless you or a friend are
into reloading. I agree that they are aesthetically a lot more
pleasing but there is a price for that. Also, do you really need a
thousand rounds? For plinking you really can't beat a 22.

At the range I use, any ammo must be non-magnetic. No, I don't need a thousand rounds. I haven't
even got the gun yet, and haven't checked the prices at WalMart. It's hard to find online prices
that beat WalMart if WM has the stuff in stock.

Brass cases and non-ferrous bullets are easier on the rifle, and steel
ammo usually is not allowed on indoor ranges.

The bullets or the casings? One range I use allows steel casings but no
steel in the bullet. AK's and AR's don't care what casings you use.
The Mini-14 might be different.

The problem is cases made from other metal usually also come with
steel cased bullets (AKA bi-metal)
I will shoot them in my $150 Jennings SNS but not my Ruger or my M1A

All of the steel case ammo I have seen also had a magnetic bullet. I
have seen aluminum cased ammo with gilding metal bullets.

Makes no difference. They hold a magnet to the box. If magnetic ammo, it's disallowed. Amen.
