Another interesting aspect that doesn't seem to have gotten any coverage is the fact that the hotel has no apparent balconies or opening windows.Â* That would imply that the shooter blew out the windows from inside as he started his assault. They do make larger drum type magazines for ARs. He broke out the windows. This was reported as being a "millionaire" so with enough money you can buy anything. They also say he was a gambler so he may have been an ex millionaire. He may have just snapped after a bad night in the casino. We can all be thankful that in the future Trump's wall and his restrictions against Muslim nations will keep Mexican and Muslim terrorists out, leaving the field open for native-born terrorists. They may affect the influence of terrorist organizations like ISIS on native-borns.Â* ISIS is claiming responsibility for his actions. You seem to have just accepted that nothing can be done about these kinds of horrific shootings and love to Monday morning quarterback every attempt anyone makes to minimize the threats. The overwhelming majority of these mass murder shootings are committed by native-born Americans against other native-born Americans. Trump's folly wall and muslim bans are just food for his base voters. As you have pointed out, or at least I thought you did, *mandatory* background checks for *every* firearms "buy-sell-trade" transaction would be a good place to start and, yes, *every* means every. I am definitely in favor of mandatory, universal background checks for firearm purchases. I know others disagree but I think it's only commonsense. Like most complex issues in a diversified society, some level of compromise is required to advance the welfare and safety of the whole. The problem is criminals will not background check. They will buy stolen weapons. Gun shops are robbed, military arms are stolen. How many Chicago shootings are committed by weapons that have been bought legally? We really do not enforce gun laws, except on law abiding people. A lot of years ago there was an Armored Car robbery in Canada. Weapon was found, 105 recoilless rifle. People figured it would be easy to find the miscreants by tracing the rifle. Government comment. . . 105 recoilless rifles were never sold to the public, and they are easy to acquire. Biggest change over the years is the political correctness of treating crazy people. Hard to institutionalize them now. How many really nutty people have the people like Harry's spouse cured? What percentage? |
