The number of these crimes that are actually closed is frighteningly small. Can not get a CCW license here. But years ago, in the 1970's I kept one on the seat of the car. Worked midnight to 8 fixing computers. And 4 of the Zebra Killings were within 6 blocks of my office. Parked under the light at the entrance and checked the surroundings before exiting. |

I kept my 97 winchester between the seat and the console through most of the late 60s and early 70s. To answer Harry's question, I know that one time, simply racking the action cleared an angry mob away from my car and gave me a chance to drive out of a spot that exploded into violence shortly after I left.
