How many times have you *had* to use a firearm to defend yourself over
the same period of time?

A couple.

Oh, well. Go for it.

You seem to be fairly well armed and you have made no secret of the
fact that you would use deadly force if it was necessary so you do not
really have a stand here.

BAO trusts the police to respond before anything bad can happen to
him. I hope he is right but they usually just show up in time to take
a report and, maybe, call the coroner. The number of these crimes that
are actually closed is frighteningly small.

Can not get a CCW license here. But years ago, in the 1970's I kept one on
the seat of the car. Worked midnight to 8 fixing computers. And 4 of the
Zebra Killings were within 6 blocks of my office. Parked under the light
at the entrance and checked the surroundings before exiting.

I kept my 97 winchester between the seat and the console through most
of the late 60s and early 70s.
To answer Harry's question, I know that one time, simply racking the
action cleared an angry mob away from my car and gave me a chance to
drive out of a spot that exploded into violence shortly after I left.
