You could probably charge admission for that cruise. I'm sure most real boaters would jump at a chance to take that voyage.

"Canadians already can.
It might be an exciting trip in an 18' open boat but lots of Cubans
have done it in less."

I might be up for it but don't know if I could put up with the wife's screaming if the seas got up to 3 feet or more. ;-)

Three foot seas can be uncomfortable even in a 50 footer if they are
steep, closely spaced and you're banging into them. If they're long
lazy swells however you hardly notice, especially from astern.

We're on the list for direct flights to Havana from DC, starting soon.
Already got an "educational" trip planned... :)

Harry is no longer involved in the union intimidation game.

What are you blathering about Ditzy?
I come from a land of wooden ships and iron men.
We laugh at 3 foot seas.

In the Florida straits that 3 foot sea can become 15 pretty fast but
lightning is what you really have to fear in an open boat.
I will freely admit, it scares the pee out of me.

Ditzy is just being his usual obstreperous self and as usual has nothing
of importance to offer here.
