I believe most people understand the chinese tolerate religion as long as it doesn't threaten their idea of the general order or challenge the central government. Pretty much how it's supposed to work here. I tend to agree with Harry that we may have tipped the other way too far. When Democrats have to go to prayer breakfasts to get elected, we may be letting the church run our life a tad too much and they have destroyed the GOP. On the other hand the Harry's of the world are pressing too hard not to ever see any sign of the religions too. When there is enough politically correct pressure that Starbucks can't put a santa clause on a coffee cup, we have lost our way I have no objections to reasonable religious practices "practiced" in churches, homes, religious schools, et cetera, or even the occasional "let us pray" nonsense that creeps into the non-church environment. My objection to religion is when its proponents push it into the public sector, when it attempts to pass laws that restrict those who believe differently, when it insinuates itself into public schools, et cetera. Unless it's Islam, correct? Then the pushing, beheading, raping, killing, and other public 'practices' are OK, eh Krause? -- Those would be the practices the Muslims learned from Christians, right, Johnnycakes? Because, as we all know, Christians engaged in these practices before there was a Muslim religion and after the Muslim religion came about. You know the old Christian battle cry, right? The one that goes "Convert or die"? So the killing, raping, beheading, etc. being practiced by Muslims now is OK, because centuries ago Christians were doing it. That's Krause logic, eh? WADumFoch! My primary concern about the evils of religious-osity is how it is practiced in *this* country. In this country, it is mostly Christian extremists who push their superstitious and ignorant beliefs onto the public outside of churches, homes, religious schools, et cetera. But it's OK for Muslims to push their belief in public, eh? You're a joke, Krause! -- Ban idiots, not guns! If you were capable of thinking, you'd know I've never said or implied any such thing. There should be a "kiddie table" here for you and your buddies, who seem determined to prove your stupidity over and again. |
