I believe most people understand the chinese tolerate religion as long as it doesn't threaten their idea of the general order or challenge the central government. Pretty much how it's supposed to work here. I tend to agree with Harry that we may have tipped the other way too far. When Democrats have to go to prayer breakfasts to get elected, we may be letting the church run our life a tad too much and they have destroyed the GOP. On the other hand the Harry's of the world are pressing too hard not to ever see any sign of the religions too. When there is enough politically correct pressure that Starbucks can't put a santa clause on a coffee cup, we have lost our way I have no objections to reasonable religious practices "practiced" in churches, homes, religious schools, et cetera, or even the occasional "let us pray" nonsense that creeps into the non-church environment. My objection to religion is when its proponents push it into the public sector, when it attempts to pass laws that restrict those who believe differently, when it insinuates itself into public schools, et cetera. We could easily extend that complaint to a lot of left wing practices like global warming hysteria. Right, because it interferes with your Corporations Uber Alles beliefs. |

If this is CO2, that is more of a population problem than an oil problem but the people who hate oil jumped on the bandwagon when they saw an opportunity. 40 years ago the problem was the smog producing gasses that came out of tail pipes. We fixed that and most exhaust gas is CO2 and water vapor now ... so CO2 was next. Without cutting way back on all forms of agriculture and eliminating farm animals, you are never going to make a dent in greenhouse gas but that is not a politically viable solution so they go after the low fruit, the evil oil company. |

The coming 'mini ice age should help the global warming problem. Might even convince some liberals that the sun *does* affect our climate. http://www.express.co.uk/news/scienc...sun-hibernates -- Ban idiots, not guns! |
