They can generate some extremely powerful winds with almost no warning and every once in a while will spawn a tornado. We had about 9 inches of rain in two days.. poured like sheets. and tornadoes touched locally andd in north stat. Tornadoes are very rare in these parts, especially in eastern MA along the coastline. It's very unusual and a little unnerving when the TV stations break programming and make announcements to take shelter immediately. Apparently the weather people were watching a "hook" that typically indicates a tornado. What caught my attention is that it appeared to be directly over our location. |
