The Can-Am days are for Canadians and snowbirds, not motorcycles. http://www.visitmyrtlebeach.com/things-to-do/events/can-am-days/ Besides, few South Carolinians go to Myrtle Beach. Way too many tourists, and there are better beaches in SC to visit. We just don't advertise them. ![]() Whoops, my bad. That wasn't addressed to me, but to answer your question, no. I've been to Charleston many times, and don't recall ever seeing a Confederate flag. Its history is in the *past*. Some folks choose to never get over it, while the majority of others have moved on. |

Do a lot of folks in Charleston fly Confederate flags from their porches? I've not been there, but I assume you have. I've been to Charleston two or three times and no, I've not seen that traitorous flag flying from porches there. Charleston is a lovely city, with lots of interesting neighborhoods to walk around. If memory serves, "Crazy Larry" of boating newsgroup fame lives or used to live there. I actually like Savannah better, along with nearby Hilton Head. My wife has a doctoral program colleague who set up a practice some years ago in Hilton Head and Savannah - two offices - and has been trying to get her to join the practice as a partner, but my wife really likes her job up here. Maybe when she retires and my ashes are scattered on the nude beach at Malibu. ![]() -- Proud to be a Liberal. |

Lots of charm and history, great food, lots of boating opportunities. Cost of living is not cheap in the city, but there are plenty of outlying areas that are nice and close enough to take advantage of the city easily. It's on the coast (of course), so the heat and humidity are a factor, but it's not that bad except for part of July and August. In return you're blessed with some really nice weather the rest of the time and *very* mild winters. As Luddite said, you'll find the people are really nice and friendly. And, we have a female Governor of East Indian decent that has her head screwed on straight. ![]() |
