He's already said so. You were the one who just said "it's time to let it go" and I think you should since you proved beyond a doubt yesterday that you don't really understand all that is involved beyond pushing a bar.... Obviously, that can be done ... at what, 5 mph? Nope, no gygroscopic precession there. Geeze. You should go take a couple of helicopter flight lessons. You'll learn all about it there. |

Although not quite at that altitude, I'd expect the balls requirement would be about the same. |

Haven't tried it, can it be done like the circles and going down a windy road with no hands? And to Dick, never really thought out a chopper, but I do know I don't see it yet.. |

Haven't tried it, can it be done like the circles and going down a windy road with no hands? And to Dick, never really thought out a chopper, but I do know I don't see it yet.. That's obvious. When Igor Sikorsky developed the first helicopter they couldn't fly it. "The design team was not familiar with the fact that a spinning rotor had gyroscopic properties (precession) which required an input 90 degrees in rotation before it became effective. The VS-300 therefore rolled left when the cyclic stick was pushed forward. The initial pilots, Igor Sikorsky and Serge Gluhareff, had no idea whether the control problems were caused by the helicopter design or pilot technique." In a helicopter this means that control input to the rotor's pitch is applied 90 degrees before the direction you want to go forward in flight. http://www.sikorskyarchives.com/S-46%20_VS-300_%20VS-300A.php Before you jump .. you don't develop sufficient force due to gyroscopic precession on a motorcycle going 5-10 mph regardless of whether you are riding in circles, straight or doing figure eights. It only comes into play when force due to the mass of the wheel (rotor) times it's velocity squared is greater than any other external forces ... like a rider leaning over to one side. |
