I'm still surprised that the union teachers, whose paramount interest is the welfare of the
students, didn't jump in to help out.

I agree with that part. Once the food was served, why throw it away.

They should have contacted the parents tho.
In Florida, if the parents can't pay, lunch (and breakfast) is free.

Supposedly they started calling the parents the day before, and were finishing on the day of. Sounds
like the cafeteria people f'ed up big time.

Ok, I do admit my mistake. but your header still looked to be derogatory to Texans and/or the state of Texas. It didn't have overtones of condemning the actions performed by a heartless school administrator.
