We try to be environmentally responsible up here so we go to the Dollar Store and buy boxes of 60 for one dollar.
These bags are just big enough for one dump but are biodegradable. If I want to be even more thrifty, Halifax supplies their version of biodegradable bags for free at the local doggie parks. I find their bags a bit too small for my hands. |

I also doubt Mr Ed would be welcome. He is my "lap partner" when we swim. Problem solved: http://www.workingservicedog.com/Pre...ceDogVest.aspx Ed looks the part, there are lots of yellow lab service dogs but I doubt he could act the part long enough to convince anyone. ;-) There was a special on this on the local news just the other night. Working Dogs, whether fake or not, *can* be kicked out of a restaurant, etc. for 'bad behavior'. It showed a scene of a 'working dog' going ape**** when another 'working dog' entered the establishment. The second was a real, trained working dog, which showed no reaction at all to the aggressiveness of the other dog. When I use the crosswalk to get over the four-lane road here (Franconia), cars stop a lot more readily if I'm walking the pointer. But maybe the drivers just think she's a good looking dog. http://tinyurl.com/pl4qd7c And, she wishes everyone here a Merry Christmas! When I was working in Switzerland in about 1987 on a job for a few weeks, we went to dinner one night. Leaving, a German Shepard tried to attack me as we came through the front part of the restaurant. Could not figure out why, until we went outside. Colin said he had stepped on the sleeping dog. And I was the first person it saw. Dogs are normally OK as handled in European Restaurants. Here, some purse dog would be on the table being fed from a plate. Yup, you're right. I've seen lots of dogs in German restaurants, always very well behaved. That last sentence is right also. |

I also doubt Mr Ed would be welcome. He is my "lap partner" when we swim. Problem solved: http://www.workingservicedog.com/Pre...ceDogVest.aspx We have friends whose mother claimed her dog (BIG dog) was a service dog so it could go on an airplane with her and not in baggage. Not good. It's getting to be a problem in restaurants and grocery stores also. From what I understand, the dog's status cannot be questioned. Yup, I know a little pig in our MX community that got a vest for his purse dog just so he could bring it everywhere... It's bull****. He thought when he told me I would be impressed, turns out I was disgusted... Later he got all democrat on me and we aren't friends anymore... There are a couple dog-owners in the neighborhood that don't talk to me either after I offered to pick up their dog **** as they were walking away from it. Offered to pick it up?? My wife and I will offer them disposable bags so they can pick up their own crap. Up here there is a hefty fine for not doing so. Asking, "Would you like me to pick up the poop for you?" seems to make the point quite well, and I don't waste a bag. BTW, here's where I get my bags...for about 3,25 cents a bag including shipping. The bags are a perfect size for two or three, if necessary, 'poops'. http://tinyurl.com/muyh9r2 They come in sets of 100, attached to a piece of cardboard which can be hung on a hook or doorknob for easy tear off. Of course, you've got to buy 2000 at a time, but for me that's only about two year's worth as I end up giving the kids some as stocking stuffers. We have an A'hole neighbor. Used to take their Rat Dog across the street to our next door neighbors parking strip for it's potty break. And leave the ****. Laura next door finally had enough and screamed at them as she flung the **** at their yard. Last time A'hole took the dog across the street to do it's crapping. Good. Walking mine just a while ago I came across two piles. I'd already put one load in my bag so I picked up the others. But it really ****es me off that dog owners will do that and give all dog owners a bad name. |

Yeah, here we have to double bag it to throw in the trash can. I can easily get a dozen of the small bags into one of the plastic Safeway bags. What gets done with the horse manure after it's picked up? |

I like the long bags 'cause even with a couple loads therein I can still tie a loop to make carrying the damn thing for the next mile or two a little easier. |

What gets done with the horse manure after it's picked up? I don't know and I don't care. Waste Management, Inc. has recycling facilities everywhere. We don't have to dedicate the dumpster to the horse crap and bedding exclusively. We can dump regular, non-hazardous household trash in it as well. I've thrown car parts, boat parts in it ... you name it and they take it. The bulk is made up of the horse stuff though. Occasionally my wife asks me to "compact" the dumpster using the front end bucket on the tractor, a job I hate especially on windy days. I wear a mask. |

Well it must just be going to a landfill somewhere. Shame they don't compost and sell it. Some outfit in Maryland was doing that with sewage sludge. Seems like horse and cow manure would be very usable. I know my grandfather would have loved it! |
