Default On the road for a boating adventure

Gorgeous.. See my post 2 above.
Today it was the beautiful Mahone Bay.
Took one of my wife's co_workers with us.
That place is busy this time of year.
Last week it was the Pirate and wooden boat festival... AND on Wednesday the Chester Race Week starts..the largest keelboat race in Canada.

Sounds nice, thanks.

Hopefully we'll get at least as far as Maine next summer.

Can you be a little more specific as to what you are talking about, and
which post of yours you are referring to. Most of us aren't using google
groups.

Gorgeous..we launched at marble mountain in the West Bay section of
the Bras d'Or lakes.
Water was very smooth at 1100 hrs so we hightailed it south west to
the Crammond Islands, which are a popular overnight anchoring spot for
cruising sailors.
there is a narrow channel between the two islands that's a bit tricky
to navigate. Looked down at one point and saw the bottom staring back
at me with a reading between 3 and 4 feet on the Hummingbird.
Got about 3/4ths of the way through when we spotted a fiberglass bow
rider type boat beached on a sand spit. Asked the young guy if we
could go any further and he said yes, but it was tricky. My Garmin
Blue Charts America showed the way but in rough detail compared to the
detail showed around Halifax.
We decided to re-trace our steps out and head back up to the half
dozen other islands off Marble Mountain and then turned off the engine
and drifted while having a light lunch.
By 1300 hrs wind had picked up a bit out in the open lake so we just
scooted back and forth in the more sheltered area. Tossed the dog in a
couple times to cool off. Nice area with a nice launch for boats not
too much larger than mine, unless you're pretty good at backing up.
Roads leading to the place need to be completely re-built.
Place was quite busy until 1st WW with 1000 men working at marble
quarry.
Now about 75 people live there and some say that is an exaggerated
number.
From lookout above beac and water are very attractive due to all the
white marble chips left from the old operation.

Good cruising post.

Good cruising post.

Not bad at all. Best in weeks, in fact.
