Default Rec. Boats' Own Gubernatorial Candidate...

The 8 MAXIMUM threat to America, according to Ken Cuccinelli

And no it's not D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T. It is of course B-L-O-W J-O-B-S. Yes
indeed, those and a few other things done by consenting adults are not
only quite naughty, but they are officially illegal in the Old Dominion
(see VA Code Sec. 18.2-361 and a terroristical threat (or something)
like that.

But never mind that the highly conservative Fourth Circuit Court of
Appeals held the law to be unconstitutional, at least the portions that
related to conduct between consenting adults. The problem is that
Virginia's law applies to everyone, consenting or non-consenting. But
rather than propose a simple legislative fix, oh no, Cuccinelli wants to
keep the law intact. From his website:

"This case [the 4th Circuit decision] is about using current law to
protect a minor girl from a 47 year-old repeat sexual predator. The law
is only applied to sodomy committed against minors, against
non-consenting adults, or in public. In fact, contrary to misinformation
peddled by Terry McAuliffe and his liberal allies against the defenders
of this law, the law is not – and cannot be – used against consenting
adults acting in private.

Well, if that's true, then why does the law specifically bar acts
between consenting adults? Sure the 4th Circuit said that was
unconstitutional, but here's Cuccenilli saying the court was wrong.

No matter how you look at it, Cuccenilli arguing for the law to stay on
the books as written. Call me suspicious about that, especially since
according to Mother Jones, Cuccenilli is on record as having a blocked
an attempt to fix the law back in 2004 when he was a state senator. And
he's on record as saying:

“My view is that homosexual acts, not homosexuality, but homosexual
acts are wrong. They’re intrinsically wrong. And I think in a natural
law based country it’s appropriate to have policies that reflect that.
.... They don’t comport with natural law. I happen to think that it
represents (to put it politely; I need my thesaurus to be polite)
behavior that is not healthy to an individual and in aggregate is not
healthy to society.”

P.S. If the Virginia law stands, that would make 90% of you felons in
the Old Dominion.
