In the interest of social stability post-trial, it is important for
*everyone* to realize just how flimsy the murder evidence was.
Otherwise it will be viewed as just another lynching when Zimmerman is
acquited. The prosecution would have had much better chances with a
manslaughter charge in my opinion.

------------------------------------------

The lead investigator recommended a charge of manslaughter instead of
2nd degree murder. Technically the jury is not supposed to know that
and it can't be allowed as evidence in the trial.

Flipped MSNBC on briefly just as the Rev. Al's show was coming on.
"Breaking News" on his show's banner. What was the "breaking news"?
Zimmerman used the term "those guys" on more that one occasion during
the series of police interviews. As usual, the Rev. automatically jumps
to the race angle.

Zimmerman never referred to any specific race in all the interviews I've
heard or read so far. I took the "those guys" term as referencing the
group of people he claims have conducted burglaries and/or home
invasions in the area in the past.

The Rev. Al is capable of causing social unrest .... and *will*.

I heard that, too, and I assumed Zimmerman meant blacks by his "those
guys" comment. I still have not heard evidence as to why Zimmerman was
chasing down Martin. If Martin actually punched Zimmerman, perhaps
Martin was simply standing his ground after being stalked by a white guy
brandishing a firearm, and Zimmerman said to himself, "Screw this," and
shot the kid.

---------------------------------------

Who knows? I am not taking sides and don't have a clue if he's telling
the truth. I find the trial fascinating though.

But I find it interesting that you also automatically assume Zimmerman
was referring to blacks with his "those guys" comment. Why?
In all the interviews and written statements, he talks about break
ins/home invasions and never (to my knowledge) refers to blacks, whites,
Latinos, Asians or any specific race as being responsible. He refers to
them as "burglars". So, when he says "those guys", I take it as
being "those guys" that are committing the burglaries.

Funny how stereotypes are automatically assigned.

And sorry, but I don't think "Rev." Albert contributes anything to
social harmony or stability. To the contrary, he fuels hate and
distrust. It's what he does for a living.

Al is pretty mild compared to any number of Republicans who hold
national political office. You know, Cruz, Gomert, and about half the
GOP members of the US House and US Senate.

I think he has toned down his rhetoric a little bit on his "Politics
Nation" show, probably to ensure he keeps the gig. Even MSNBC with
their very progressive slant can only tolerate so much. But why he
looks to put a "racism" tint on just about every controversial
subject or news story is beyond me. If it truly is a story pertaining
to racism, fine. But he applies it to anything he doesn't like and
he's come close to totally losing it a few times.

MSNBC dumped Imus quickly when he made inappropriate comments of a
racial nature. I wonder how far they will let "Rev" Al go the other
way before reigning him in or showing him the door.

Yessir Krausie. Absolutely. No doubt, Harry Krause!

By the way, have you made any headway in paying down your tax liens. Your two bankruptcies did not discharge your tax debts, eh?

I was talking with my daughtes, at dinner this evening, about the
Martin/Zimmerman trail and
one of my daughters said that they were both going under self defense.
I responded that if
that is your position then no charges should have been filed.

And that's the way it would have been if the racist in Washington didn't
stick their noses in looking for crumbs...

Isn't it wonderful that we have such knowledgeable fellows in rec.boats
who went to law school, passed the bar exam, and have practiced criminal
law for so long, they can interpret the laws and we can feel assured
they know whereof they speak.

OMG, a couple of numbnuts painting the world the way they see it.

There'd be no trial if that idiot left well enough alone, as the
dispaatcher told him to. Nope, kid's dead as a result. Vigilante, cop
wanna-be. He deserves to be in jail for his stupidty, like a lot of
other people who did stupid things that didn't come close to losing
anyone else their life.

Would have been no trial if Obummer wasn't up for reelection...

Nah! Sharpton would have seen to it that there would be a trial or a
riot. And he can make it happen. My worry is that he'll still cause a
riot. The state is helping Zimm make his case.
