Default Heh heh heh

The Arkansas state legislature is currently working on a bill that would
allow academic study of the Bible in public schools. School districts
throughout the state would create their own curriculum for such a course
and they would be held to the same standards as all other courses.

Arkansas is not the first state to attempt to adopt such legislation.
Earlier this year, Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona signed such
legislation into law.

South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, and Oklahoma also allow such
courses to be taught. All these courses, however, must adhere to federal
regulations maintaining religious neutrality. In other words, they can
teach it in an academic manner, but cannot teach it as God’s Word.

Well, of course. Arkansas, Arizona, South Carolina, Georgia, Texas,
Tennessee and which states are next? Alabama and Mississippi?

Why shouldn't they be able to have a bible study class as long as it

They made us study Beowulf.

At least everyone knows Beowulf is a mythic poem. Too many accept the
bible as "real."

My English teacher seemed to think it was real, or at least far more
significant that I thought it was.

On the other hand my Latin teacher thought Gallic Wars was the I
Ching. Analysing it did make Latin more interesting tho so maybe it
was a good teaching tool.

They couldn't get me interested in Beowulf.

Should have had my English teacher. She made Beowulf a fantastic
experience. First reading the poem, with sound effects, and a few side
comments.
