You boys play nice... :-) Just tinkering or is something wrong with the Torino? That sure is a beauty of a car! Tinkering and restoring. It was drivable when I parked it, but now it's sitting on my lift up in the air, with the rear up on jackstands. 9 inch rear end has been sandblasted, primed and painted, rear chunk rebuilt (3.50 posi), all new bearings and seals, and a new set of leaf springs. Welded in a patch on the quarterpanel for a spot of rust the size of my thumb, and I'm finishing up the bodywork for that. Then I'll clean, prime and paint the underside of the back half of the car and re-assemble. Then on to the front half. Rebuild the 351C 4V and substitute an AOD tranny for the C4, get the heat and AC working, and freshen up the interior. Then paint and some new chrome. When I spell it all out like that, it makes me feel a little queasy. :-) |

I really liked working on cars of that era, because I grew up with them! What's wrong with the C4? It's alot of work of course, but it's fun to have something to tinker with that you don't have to drive! I've got a '66 VW bug that I'm doing. Well, it's in my garage anyway!!! |

Nice.. I have helped my bud do a couple frame up restorations, it's a lot of work and money... I asked him once what he spent doing his 72 nova hatchback, he said he stopped counting dollars at about twenty thousand... ![]() Yep, not hard to get upside-down on a resto project. Problem with me is, once I get started I can't stop, because the deeper you dig the more you find. Then you make it too nice, and are afraid to drive it! |

It really needs an OD tranny. With the 3.50 rear end, cruising at 70mph on the highway it's spinning the motor more than I'd like. Right now, it'll pass about anything but a gas station. Well get of the internet and get to work on it! I'm just taking a break after sanding and priming. PC in the shop, ya know... |

'69 by a man in Greenville, SC. I'm the second registered owner. I turned in the original title when I registered it (that was tough to do!). I found the original build sheet under the carpet, still in decent condition. It has 105k miles on it. The VW was my grandfather's he bought it new. I do most of the work after it gets cold and I don't want to be outside. I'm trying to find some decent floor pans for it now. Cool to have something from your family. |
