It is hard to tow unless borrowed somebody's truck. My 1990 Mercury stationwagon sank to the ground wheen we lowered the tongue jack. but the main problem was the legality of it. The toon and trailer were origionally from Kentucky, and little did i realize it but Ky. doesn't issue trailer titles. So.... to be legal about it, I would have to send an app. to Illinois state and for the $100.00 fee, they would issue me a 'temporary VIN". Then I'd have to make an apointment in Bellville IL. (80 mi. away) and take the trailer there to have it inspected. Once it passed THEN i would have to pay not only for the inspection fee, but also for title transfer and I would be issued a 'home-built) title. A big $300.00 hassle and a day of dragging the trailer 3/4 of the way across the state. And this isn't counting getting the pontoon registered in my name for another $90.00 transfer fee. etc. etc. besides, in the two years I had it, it was taken out twice. Just didn't have the time for it. |
