Default 6 billion in cash found

Yeah, I've been searching for my glasses all day and it turns out I
had them on...

A sum of $6.6 billion allegedly stolen in Iraq has been found, the
Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR) said
Wednesday.

While it was thought to have gone missing, an earlier SIGIR report
said the funds were not accounted for due to the “weaknesses” of the
Pentagon’s management and control mechanisms for their oversight.

Turns out, SIGIR now says the funds were actually being held by the
Central Bank of Iraq, where they belonged.

“Sufficient evidence exists showing that almost all of the remaining
$6.6 billion remaining was transferred to actual and legal CBI
(Central Bank of Iraq) control,” the report says.

The cash was part of a series of shipments totaling more than $12
billion, taken largely from the U.N. “oil-for-food” program and the
sales of Iraqi oil.

***Officials in the Bush administration had hoped the massive pallets
of cash would help calm Iraq’s civilian population following the
chaotic and violent invasion and toppling of Saddam.***

***Investigators said in 2005 that Bush officials apparently neglected
to put procedures in place to track the money or hold recipients
accountable for its proper applications.***

What a surprise! You mean we should keep track of this stuff?

I bet $6.6 billion in cash delivered on pallets could be used to calm
the OWS protesters. Maybe we should repatriate some of that cash and
use if for our own people instead of Iraqis?

****in' unbelievable.

I would be more worried about the guns that weren't kept track of. Oh,
and the lies flying around congress in reference to "Fast and
Furious", a plan devised by the Obama administration to create chaos
and influence changes in gun laws... Hopefully the republicans don't
let them off the hook again like they always do....

Pocket change compared to the $1.5 *trillion* the Bush
mis-Administration blew on Iraq and Afghanistan, and the total is sitll
climbing. Not to worry...we'll get nothing from that, either.

All we've done with our military expenditures since WWII is waste tons
of money and young men and women to keep defense contractors in business
and field grade officers in uniform.

Snotty's worried a few Latinos with guns are going to find their way up
to South Windsor, break into the house, and steal the $20 in change in
the cookie jar.

I know that your blind hatred of anything even a little to the left of
far, extreme right probably doesn't allow you to realize this, but,
these kind of covert operations are going on all of the time. This one
was botched. So what? I'd guess you don't even really know what it was
about until you google it, all you know is that it was screwed up.

Yeah, but then to lie about it like Napolotano did in congress today is
a crime too... Ask Scooter Libby or Martha Stewart

Of COURSE it's every single liberal politician's fault.....

Fast and Furious is a Holder/Obama/Napolitano thing, yes.. And they are
all lying about it...
