Honda has an 8hp and 9.9hp 4 stroke that are 92#. Honda and Yamaha have special high torque models that are for kicker motors on larger sail boats like yours. I think there big deal is they have almost as much thrust in reverse as in forward which is not so with standard outboards. I think I would go for a 10hp in one of these. I had a 22-ft sailboat with a 7.5hp Merc, and that was plenty. A 5-6hp would be enough. The high-torque ones do sound like a good idea though. Lloyd |
