Ledger board lag-bolted into frame of house. My guess is the structure of the deck will be finished by end of the day Monday, weather permitting, Tuesday at the latest. Oh, just to throw the idiots off a little, the back beam is being held in place temporarily by strips nailed to the joists. I didn't rent the sky hook, but I did rent an air hammer that runs off my compressor. :) Are you trying to say air nailer? Didn't see the "back beam" in the picture. I think it's safe to say that the joists are hung from the ledger board which is "special screwed" into 3/8 waferboard siding. Maybe he got lucky and hit a few studs or floor joists. I wonder if he is planning on using flashing anywhere in this project? And yet another Snotty. I believe that makes five snotty comments for you so far today. You certainly are helping prove my point. The back beam is installed, the joists are tied to the ledger board, and the ledger board is screwed into the wall studs every 16". When we removed some siding to install the ledger board, we marked the stud locations. Some flashing is installed already. More will be installed this coming week. There's no OSB in this house. The sheathing is plywood. Thanks for your interest. In the conventional 'platform framing' we use up here, we have a header board that follows the outline of the concrete foundation that all the floor joists are nailed into. When attaching a ledger board, the lag screws (or other fasteners) would be driven into this 2" x 10" header after passing through the shingles and 3'8" plywood sheathing. You have shingles on the side of your house? What's the 3'8" plywood all about? |
