What did they do? In actions, not name calling twaddle. Did they put a gun
to your head and say "buy that asian auto!?"

nope. they simply sent jobs overseas and left us no choice about wages
or places to work. they took advantage of the myth that, if you work
hard, you'll get ahead...an idea that you and other right wingers
love.

They ignored the demise, exactly as the current batch of cockroaches. The
nest of cockroaches will change in January, but NOTHING else will. "They"
can't fix you, only you can, and you adamantly refuse. It's time to live
your dream staring at the idiot box while waiting for the mail person to
bring your welfare check.

babbling. drooling on your lobster bib.

They WATCHED middle class jobs go overseas - they DID make it possible with
their one way trade agreements. YOU watched also, then merely went along
with the trend. You elected those people. They would NOT be there if it were
not for the incompetence of your voters. Even you can understand that fact.

Previously 3rd world countries are experiencing incredible growth through
implementation of capitalism. Their rulers, and their population,
understand elementary economics and buy domestically. The U.S. auto
industry was the single largest core and vertically integrated industry in
North America. The U.S. said "c'mon in!" to Japan and Korea, and succumbed
to Japan's and Korea's policy of prohibition of your production/output.
What did you do about that? You buy Asian, lose your position, then bitch
about the scumbag politicians you put in office.

I don't know if you ever leave your backyard, but if so, isn't it
embarrassing for you to carry a U.S. passport?

Why does such a large percentage (85-90%) of the population want someone
else to save them from their own behavior?

By the way, you never even tried to answer my question - too much MSNBC
between your brain cells?

really? then why did the income of the richest 1% increase by 500%
over the past 37 years if they WATCHED this happen?

the US elites refused to pay living wages to the US middle class...all
the while feeding them stories about 'american exceptionalism' and
'jesus hates gays'...so instead of providing living wages, the right
wing got the middle class to worry about guns and religion

you right wingers are hysterical!

That's an impressive statistic: 125+ million of the 110 million registered
voters voted for Mr. Magoo or Buckwheat in 2008. That clearly indicates
125+ million inhabitants are mentally deficient.

It was supposed to but in February (my last trip there) it looked fine,
except for Obama's picture on the front page of what passes there for a
newspaper.

Sorry, bub. It was the "middle class" that went for foreign products.
Age of consumerism. Low wage labor wins the day.
Consumer reports probably did more to ship industrial capacity overseas
than any other entity.
The "middle class" sucked it up.
Can't count the times I heard "educated" people say the U.S. would be
the "brain" capital of the world and the scut work would be done overseas.
Fools. Having been among many people I knew the U.S. didn't have a lock
on brains.
Most of those "educated" people had their jobs offshored.
Serves 'em right. They had nothing but disdain for the people who
actually did productive work. **** 'em.

BTW, do you know why there are all those Toyota, Honda and other foreign
plants in the U.S. providing work for Americans?
Ronald Reagan.
As stupid as he was, he forced the Japs to start building plants here
under threat of tariff on Jap cars.

He was the last President to do ONE GOD DAMNED THING to protect American
jobs.
And that includes Obama.
That sap of yours allows billions of dollar of stimulus money to be
spent in China for his "green" energy initiative.
Read it and weep.

As much as I find this Kurtz joker a putz, he's got some things right.
The pols have no ****ing idea how to fix the mess they allowed to
happen, and that includes Obama.
You go ahead and tell me how the 6000 "middle class" jobs he created
overseas instead of here ain't ****ing the American "middle class."

So Kurtz is right for now. I'm just hoping he won't stay right.
The jury is out, but it's been out too long to my taste.

Jim - Ever hopeful.

gee. even the rich are starting to figure this out. having raped the
middle class, even wall street is starting to get scared about being
tarred and feathered by main street

gee. i guess that's why i never complained about toyota and
honda....having owned a honda for the last 10 years.

is that why wages dropped under reagan?

guess you think he wears a green eyeshade and keeps track of every
george washington that goes through the economy.

you do have a simplisitic view of reality, don't you?

why not check to see how the middle class got wrecked by the right
wing
