There is a new option which is much better than SeaClear in my
opinion. It is called OpenCPN, has a better user interface, more
features, and runs on just about any platform. Did I mention that it
is free?

OK i give up. how do i change charts? it insists on loading the gulf
of mexico. while i'm interested in the oil spill, it's not where i do
my boating

i've loaded the charts in the active directory but i see no way to
actually select and use these charts

Hey this is pretty cool. I downloaded Florida but there seems to be a
lot more charts than that.

Drag the map around till what you want is in the center then select
larger scale chart. The available charts are outlined in green. When you
get the chart you want you can zoom in and out, and select the features
you want. That's all I know so far. I've played with it for half an
hour, but its time to go to bed. Good luck. Did you download electronic
or raster charts. I did electronic and I think they suck.

I just downloaded raster charts for florida which included the entire
Gulf of Mexico. Wow! They are awesome. Use up/down arrows to select the
chart scale you want and the magnifying glass to zoom in and out.
