Default Using Amzoil in an older 2-cycle

I know that the ancient engines recommended using a quart of 30 weight
engine oil to gallons of gas, which was primitive, then with 2-cycle
oils the recommended mix ratio went from 24 to 50 to one, Now the
synthetics are going up to 100:1 ratios and for a modern 2 cycle I
think that's OK, but I'm not sure about the designs of the 70's.

My brother is an Amzoil dealer and he things it's the greatest thing
since malted milk, and I like synthetic 2 cycle oil, but I'm wondering
about the recommended mix ratio. personally I think 100:1 is a bit
thin.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Yeah...use a half a pint of the old-fashioned oil to a gallon of gas,
just like we used to do. It worked just fine, smelled great, and left a
trail of smoke you could follow to get home.

engine. Wrong the other way you'll just use a bit more oil and
change plugs more often. Seems like an easy choice to me.

$79.00 weed eater. I'm trying to figure out the 'just right' mixture.

50:1

I mix 40:1 for every 2-stroke tool I own. The 50:1's won't complain.

IIRC the VRO systems (90s) varied the mix from 25- 100:1. Maybe it was
50-100:1. I use 50:1 in both of mine and they do get gummy if I do a lot of
trolling but it's worth the assurance that my mix isn't going to cause harm.

Fortunately, this isnt' a VRO engine and if it was I'd disconnect that
really quick. I've had friends that have found out that it wasn't
trustworthy.neither was the alarm.

I had a Johnson 40 that was VRO and when the VRO pump broke I just mixed the
fuel myself. Can't remember if I had to plug anything. I didn't and don't
like those things. Couldn't run the fuel out of the motor.
I was just using that as an example of oil to fuel ratios.
