Wow! What an exciting end to a four day trip this week to Delta Marina
in Rio Vista (On the Sacramento River)! After three days of fishing, including two long cruises down to Suisun Bay (on the California Delta) only to be blown out after just a couple of hours of fishing, I caught a nice 52 inch, approx 40# sturgeon in the last hour of the trip on Thursday, March 25th. And this after being skunked last week for two days, as well. Persistence pays! I haven't fished Light 25, just below Rio Vista, in a long time, and the way things were going, I needed to change something. So I gave it a try. After sitting there for three hours in the wind and the rocking, rolling river, about 5:00 p.m. a sturgy came along and tried my free lamprey eel. He fought pretty well for about ten minutes, and bringing that big guy aboard for a measure made all the effort worth while. Then I released him to fight another day. Light 25 is often good sturgeon fishing as the area is a big clam bed - and sturgeon like clams. The story and photos are on my homepage along with a link to the video of the whole catch on youtube: www.FishWisher.com or this: http://fishwisher.spaces.live.com/de...x?sa=706324268 I'm already looking forward to the next trip!
