Default Cruisers carrying weapons

Somebody asked if I carry any weapons when I cruise, The answer is
that I do not carry any firearms because I am incompetent with them.
I do carry a machete, but that is a "tool", not a weapon, but, it
could be a weapon.
You can buy tear gas and pepper spray rounds for the 12 guage flare
launchers but I do not have them. I might get some pepper spray
canisters but have not done so.
I simply do not own anything worth stealing and my boat looks old
enough to not be worth any effort although she works well. My
strategy is to simply look as if my boat is not worth the trouble to
even board.

Wasp and hornet spray can shoot 20 to 30 feet. No one will question you
having it.

In another group it was mentioned to keep wasp/hornet spray on hand
instead of pepper spray. Straight steady stream of spray to help aim.
Supposed to burn much like pepper spray. I wouldn't want it pointed at my
eyes even if it was harmless. The range of the spray is pretty good too.

I know it kills wasps, the kind that fly. Not sure about white anglo, you
know.

The YMMV applies.

We need a 12 gauge flare gun that will fire 12 gauge 00 Buckshot -
more than once.

You should have said something at the other place and I would have kept to
myself.

You should be ok without weapons as long as you stay away from the
Somali pirates.

If you fire a live shotgun round in a flare pistol you will likely be
picking it out of your teeth and other inconvenient places. Tests
have shown that they are not even up to firing a .410 shell with a
steel reducing sleeve in the barrel.

I'd pay a reasonable amount of money to see you firing a heavy 12-gauge
round out of a flare gun. You could use the proceeds to rebuild your
hand and face.

Dumfoch.

Whose army were you in, anyway? Didn't you get any weapons training?
