First New Years resolution I ever made, to give up alcohol and drink
far less coffee. Both were giving me serious heartburn and it had
gotten so I cannot even drink beer because of it. Considering I prob
have more caffeine in my blood than hemoglobin, it had to be alcohol I
gave up but 12 cups of coffee a day probably is too much. So, with
only 3 cups in the morning and it being too cold outside to do
anything am feelin a bit tense.

Say what!
12 cups a day???
I drink one large cup a day..at breakfast and was thinking of cutting that
down in size.

How big is a cup?
I am probably up around 8-10 cups a day. We have a "12 cup" maker, my
wife takes 16 oz with her to work and I drink the rest throughout the
day.

For us a cup is double... We have an 8 cup maker and we would normally
make at least 3 pots a day for two of us. That comes to about 12 cups
(really 6 travel mugs) each.

Wow! That's a whole lotta coffee...I presume you check your b.p. frequently.

I drink one or two cups, maybe 16 ounces a day. More than that and I
feel kind of "wired."

I don't use sugar, but I do use "fat free" half and half, typically the
store brand.

I'd have cut out the booze, and cut way back on the coffee. Maybe only
11 cups, but they'd have to be 8oz cups, not those chintzy 6oz jobs.

Alot of stuff you enjoy is had to give up, but for the better. for me,
no more 1/2 lb hershey bars (1 a night) No more big bag of chips, or
doritos, or corn curls ( from top to the last crumb), cutting out on
salt. less beef and pork, and more fish. Eat more breakfast and less
supper.

But I ain't giving up coffee!

Glad to hear it's going er, um, OK for now? How's that breakfast thing
doing for you? snerk- Hide quoted text -

Doing fine actually. Making apropriate adjusments isn't as hard as I
thought it would be. I guess it's all in what you set out to do.

It took me a long time to cut sugar out of my coffee, but that was
about thirty years ago. I still like something sweet in latte's, but
we use the Torani sugar free syrups. Good flavor.

The local World Market carries a great stock of them.

For years I used to "doctor" it up to the point where it was like
drinking liquid candy, John. That's gone too!

I make a pot in the morning and pour it into a vacuum flask. That way
it oxidises less and doesn't evaporate at all. It is also in arms
reach and can go on the road.

That's also *what we do

We got some single "K-cup" brewers a couple of years ago. My wife uses
hers for tea, and I use mine for the one or two cups of coffee I drink
weekdays. They are really nice...hot coffee (tea) when you want it, and
nothing sitting around in a flask, getting stronger and stronger. 30 to
35 cents a cup. When I run out of k-cups, I just use instant coffee and
the cup of hot water the machine dispenses.

keurig machines. I've seen them for well under $100...- Hide quoted text -

Harry the gourmand uses instant coffee!!!! Damn that's funny!
I wouldn't drink that nasty **** for anything.

The idiot uses instant coffee and the Keurig to make hot water, what a
moron... We bought the reusable filter for our Keurig so when we want a
cup of fresh ground we can use the filter and brew it up...

Like I told you on the phone, just slowly use less and less sugar and
creme and in about two weeks your taste will adjust and you will like it
just fine... We used to drink three to four posts a day between my wife
and myself, don't know how much that adds up to but it was a lot. Now
that I am a heart patient I don't drink any, that cold turkey week and a
half was wild in the beginning..;)

Now I do Cocoa a cup at at time in the Keurig

Yeah, I used to drink about that much coffee but had to go cold turkey
about a year ago due to health concerns. The first few weeks were full
of headaches and other nasties...:(
