First New Years resolution I ever made, to give up alcohol and drink
far less coffee. Both were giving me serious heartburn and it had
gotten so I cannot even drink beer because of it. Considering I prob
have more caffeine in my blood than hemoglobin, it had to be alcohol I
gave up but 12 cups of coffee a day probably is too much. So, with
only 3 cups in the morning and it being too cold outside to do
anything am feelin a bit tense.
Say what!
12 cups a day???
I drink one large cup a day..at breakfast and was thinking of cutting that
down in size.

How big is a cup?
I am probably up around 8-10 cups a day. We have a "12 cup" maker, my
wife takes 16 oz with her to work and I drink the rest throughout the
day.

I believe coffee maker cups are 6oz, whereas a normal measure is 8oz.
There are 32oz, or 4 cups in a quart.

So, your 12 cup coffeemaker actually makes only 72oz, and not 96oz as
it should.

I just checked with a measuring cup. The Black and Decker coffee maker
uses 4oz "cups". A full 12 cup carafe is 48 oz although I usually end
up filling it more than that. It actually holds closer to 14 "cups".
Taking this science fair project a step farther I weighed the normal
coffee charge and it is right at one oz by weight (Maxwell House drip
grind) for that pot of coffee. That makes a pot of coffee about 15
cents if you catch a sale. ($5.99 for 39 oz can)
I know when we charged a quarter a mug (4 cups or so) at our shop we
ended up with a tidy profit that we spent on a cookout lunch a few
times a year.

Maybe you should set up an investigatory committee.

Since I retired I do not drink anywhere's the amount of coffee I used
to. And still rarely drink alcohol. But one nice thing about losing
the Christmas weight gain. I am using Costco's brand SlimFast for
breakfast and lunch. Yesterday my buddy and I went up to New Melones
lake for some trout and bass fishing. We used the Hobie pedal kayaks.
Was easy to imbibe lunch while pedaling along and trolling for trout.
No fooling around with cutting bread or cheese. And only caught one
nice bass.

What's the lake level like at New Melones? It was waaay low when I was
last there in August.

--Mike

Down 125'.

Yikes. Good thing it's pretty deep.

Yup. My buddy had the fishfinder on his boat, and we were in some deep
water not far from the shore We also were checking his new housboat. And
it is near the back of the cove, still plenty of water. He lost the last
houseboat when the mooring cable broke and his boat along with some others
were fouled. Wind rolled his boat. destroyed completely. Where it rolled
is now only about 70' deep, so he is thinking of taking the dive gear up.

You know, you can make sandwiches ahead of time and wrap them so they
don't get soggy in the cooler. Really.

What would you suggest? PBJ?

Well, no bread is good, but in general, the heavier the bread the
better it is. Panera makes a good multigrain bread. So does Costco. I
guy the stuff from Costco, slice it and freeze it. Then I toast it
before eating. Peanut butter has become a real treat - maybe once
every two weeks, if I've been good.

I used to get whole wheat bread but have since switched over o multi-
grains. I'm still trying to find what I really like, but haven't been
disapointed really with any of it.

I don't even like the thought of peanut butter anymore.

Hiding? Me? Bull****. If I wanted to hide and spoof here, I'd use a
different usenet posting client. What I suspect is that you have to look
at the headers...and that's a minor annoyance...and if you have to it
enough...

It wouldn't be easy for me to write as badly as you, flajim, and the
other right-wing assholes here.

Damn. Now you've got me wondering.

Eight cups in my Starbucks pot is 48oz. So, Starbucks considers 6oz of
coffee to be a 'cup'. The coffeemaker we have holds 12 6oz cups, and
is called a 12 cup coffeemaker. I guess if it had a Black and Decker
label it would be an 18 cup coffeemaker.

Huh. Never knew that.
