First New Years resolution I ever made, to give up alcohol and drink far less coffee. Both were giving me serious heartburn and it had gotten so I cannot even drink beer because of it. Considering I prob have more caffeine in my blood than hemoglobin, it had to be alcohol I gave up but 12 cups of coffee a day probably is too much. So, with only 3 cups in the morning and it being too cold outside to do anything am feelin a bit tense. Since I retired I do not drink anywhere's the amount of coffee I used to. And still rarely drink alcohol. But one nice thing about losing the Christmas weight gain. I am using Costco's brand SlimFast for breakfast and lunch. Yesterday my buddy and I went up to New Melones lake for some trout and bass fishing. We used the Hobie pedal kayaks. Was easy to imbibe lunch while pedaling along and trolling for trout. No fooling around with cutting bread or cheese. And only caught one nice bass. You know, you can make sandwiches ahead of time and wrap them so they don't get soggy in the cooler. Really. What would you suggest? PBJ? -- If it's not posted with a mac, it's the real deal.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - I like PBJ's but I cut them out too. I like wonder bread smeared with just mayo. What? No fried foreskins? My BFF John Herring has first dibs on those. |

Maybe only 11 cups, but they'd have to be 8oz cups, not those chintzy 6oz jobs. Alot of stuff you enjoy is had to give up, but for the better. for me, no more 1/2 lb hershey bars (1 a night) No more big bag of chips, or doritos, or corn curls ( from top to the last crumb), cutting out on salt. less beef and pork, and more fish. Eat more breakfast and less supper. But I ain't giving up coffee! Don't forget chicken! But the best part, the skin, has got to go. Rotisserie chickens, with a lot of celery and onions, make some great soup, into which you can throw some brown rice.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Well, I usually go for skinless chicken breasts in the oven, but I never knew why otherwise you needed to toss the skin? Fatty...cholesterol. Harry, since you eat so healthy, why are you one of the fattest puckers i have ever seen? If you were a girl, i would have to roll you in flour to find out where i should stick my ding dong. Since you aren't a girl, i just let me nose point the way. |

Just look for the spot he smeared himself with KY Jelly and point your ding dong in that direction. That's what all the boys down at the union hall do. |

A full 12 cup carafe is 48 oz although I usually end up filling it more than that. It actually holds closer to 14 "cups". Taking this science fair project a step farther I weighed the normal coffee charge and it is right at one oz by weight (Maxwell House drip grind) for that pot of coffee. That makes a pot of coffee about 15 cents if you catch a sale. ($5.99 for 39 oz can) I know when we charged a quarter a mug (4 cups or so) at our shop *we ended up with a tidy profit that we spent on a cookout lunch a few times a year. Damn. Now you've got me wondering. Eight cups in my Starbucks pot is 48oz. So, Starbucks considers 6oz of coffee to be a 'cup'. The coffeemaker we have holds 12 6oz cups, and is called a 12 cup coffeemaker. I guess if it had a Black and Decker label it would be an 18 cup coffeemaker. Huh. Never knew that. The Mr Coffee is the same size as the B&D (4 oz "cups") I guess Starbucks just wants to be different. That is why a small coffee there is a "grande" ... and $4 They never grabbed me. Sounds like something for Consumer Reports to jump on. I just did some comparisons of different brands, and they range from 4-6 oz per cup. Weird.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - It's all irrelevant if you just look at how much the pot will hold in oz. instead of cups. |

Yeah, I used to drink about that much coffee but had to go cold turkey about a year ago due to health concerns. The first few weeks were full of headaches and other nasties...:( Scotty I thought you spelled your name Scrotum. Your messing with us, huh? |
