Default Firefox not closing

Lately and often when I try to open Firefox I'll get a window saying
Firefox didn't close and can't be opened. Then I have to hit ctrl alt
del to end the process.

Anyone have an idea why this is happening?

John, I found this, you may want to give it a shot:

When Firefox runs into a problem while shutting down, it leaves a file
called "parent.lock" in the profile folder in your User Profile.
You'll need to delete this file in order really clean things up.

The best way to find that file since the path is really long, is to
just do a File Search, making sure to search in "Hidden Files and
Folders"

I've occasionally had that problem too. Thanks for the info, Loog.
I'll check it out.

You can also clear your "Prefetch" file in Windows.

You can also clear your "Prefetch" file in Windows.- Hide quoted text -

Clearing prefetch will slow your computer boot time considerably. Bad
idea.

Only after the first time you do it. Some crap may disappear for good.

Thanks for the tip, but the search, including the hidden files, didn't
turn up anything.
