Firefox not closing
Lately and often when I try to open Firefox I'll get a window saying
Firefox didn't close and can't be opened. Then I have to hit ctrl alt del to end the process. Anyone have an idea why this is happening? -- John H |

You'll need to delete this file in order really clean things up. The best way to find that file since the path is really long, is to just do a File Search, making sure to search in "Hidden Files and Folders" |

As you see, Firefox won't re-open if its process is still running, but after you close that process, it will restart. If, after you close the process it *still* won't restart, then check for that file and delete it. That's the parent.lock file fix. |

Once I end the process, Firefox starts normally. I looked for the parent.lock file, even in the hidden folders, but couldn't locate one. I went to the site below, which gives some more tips. Hopefully one or more will work. http://tinyurl.com/6mbo9a We'll see. Maybe I just need a new, bigger, monitor. YEAH! -- John H |

One thing you might try, John, just as a quick process-of-elimination exercise is to rename the firefox executable to something like firefox_1.exe to determine how it behaves with the new name. If it behaves normally with the new name (closes normally), you might try running a program called Malwarebytes, if you haven't already to check for malware or rootkits. (Malwarebytes is available in a functional freeware version.)
